Since we’re getting towards the tail end of the Summer, it’s time to start thinking about where you’re going to be taking the family for your Fall vacation. Fall is a wonderful season to hit the road and enjoy the cooler temperatures and changing colors. There are plenty of places across the United States to park your RV for some well-deserved rest and relaxation, here are a few to consider when you’re plotting and planning for Fall.
Located about 150 miles West of Denver, in the Elk Mountains, Aspen is a perfect retreat for your Fall vacation. Late-September through Mid-October is the best time to make your trip, as you’ll see the changing colors of the golden aspen trees that surround and cover the mountains.
4 hours North of New York City and surrounded by one of the nation’s largest national parks is the Adirondack Mountains. Mid- to Late-October is the best time to go so you can enjoy the hiking trails, changing colors of the oak, maple, birch and beech trees that blanket the landscape. If you go any later, you may get snowed in and have to make other arrangements.
If you’re a bigger fan of the Southwest, then you’ll love the views and scenery surrounding Taos during the Fall. In the months of September and October, the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway (an 85 mile drive around Taos, Red River and Eagle Nest) offers breathtaking views of yellowing aspen trees, gold and red cottonwoods and purple cinquefoil trees. If you’re looking for a trip to change your opinion of what fall foliage can look like, this is it!
If you’ve ever caught yourself staring at a postcard or poster of beautiful fall foliage, there’s a good chance the photo was taken in the area of Litchfield Hills. About 130 miles west of Boston, Massachusetts, you’ll find some of the most amazing fall foliage that the United States has to offer. Maples, oaks, aspen and beech trees explode with reds, yellows and oranges. If you’re ready to take it slow and enjoy the peace and quiet, Litchfield is the place to be.
Not only is this Napa Valley ground zero for some of the best wines in the world, it’s also a great destination for travelers who want to see some gorgeous fall foliage. During October, with an average temperature of 80 degrees during the day, you’ll see miles and miles of vineyard estates that are world renowned for their wines. Not only do you get enjoy a glass of wine from your favorite vineyard, but you can also see the crimsons and golds associated with the vines preparing for the winter.
With the summer coming to a close, it’s time to start thinking about your Fall vacation. Don’t forget your camera and take plenty of pictures of the colors!
