Texas is a great destination for RVers. We have it all: mountains, rivers, beaches, plains, hills, and plenty of lakes. Just about any type of land-based attraction, we’ve got it. That’s one of the perks of being in such a huge state! In the southern part of our great state is one of the most popular spring break destinations in the world, Padre Island. Not only are there hundreds of thousands of people there for a week in March, throughout the rest of the year, it’s a very pleasant place to spend time and soak up the sun. With South Texas’ moderate weather, you could very easily travel there in the winter and not have to rely on a heater to keep you warm. Winter in South Padre generally tops off at about 70 degrees for the high and 55 for the low. With that kind of weather, you can travel down to the beach anytime of year!
With miles and miles of white beaches, you’ll never feel crowded or not be able to find a spot to spend the day digging your toes into the sand. With its clear waters and beautiful sunsets, you’ll have a hard time leaving South Padre Island after you’ve spent a few days there.
If you’re a fishing nut, then there’s no short supply of adventures to be had. Hitch up your trailer and bring it along with you or contact one of the deep-sea fishing charters to take you out on the high seas and spend a day casting and catching. You can even take your catch to one of the many restaurants that will cook it for you!
For your RV accommodation needs, there are a few RV parks located on the island. Andy Bowie Park is located on the northern end of the island and is great for bike riding and bird watching. The South Padre Island KOA is another great option for your RV needs.
For the seafood lover in your family, there’s no shortage of amazing restaurants that will serve freshly caught fish, crabs, and more! Daddy’s Seafood & Cajun Kitchen, Sea Ranch Restaurant and Bar and Dirty Al’s @ Pelican Station are just a few of the great choices for your seafood cravings. Get your fill of fresh Gulf of Mexico seafood while you’re there, it’s hard to find anything like it away from Padre Island.
For the water sports enthusiast in your group, South Padre Island will not be a disappointment. Jet-ski & Wave Runner rentals will keep you out on the gulf for hours at a time with a smile on your face. If you haven’t tried parasailing, now’s the time to do it! Kiteboarding and kitesailing are also popular water sports activities for the thrill seeker.
When you’re ready to experience the white beaches, clean water, and many attractions of South Padre Island, don’t hesitate to make the trip down there.
