Planning An RV Trip

While not everyone wants to have a detailed, down-to-the-minute itinerary mapping out their entire RV trip, it is difficult to deny that a little planning can go a long way toward making your journey a more enjoyable one. Of course, it is hard to know how to plan a trip without previous experience. That is why Fun Town RV has created this RV trip planning guide for you.

Plan Your Route

Modern GPS devices have greatly simplified trip navigation. However, a bit of route planning may still be in order because of the unique challenges associated with traveling in an RV.

For example, your camper may exceed the maximum height restriction on certain tunnels, forcing you to find an alternate route. Routes with sharp turns are another thing to avoid. You may need to seek out RV-friendly fuel stations along the way, especially if you have a larger rig.

Build in Road Trip Breaks

On longer trips, you and your family may start to experience cabin fever. Try to find attractions and landmarks to visit along the way. These can provide a welcome break, and make the trip more interesting as well.

Packing

You may have experience packing for non-RV trips, but it is important to note that there are several factors that make packing for a journey in a camper more complicated.

In addition to the usual assortment of clothes and personal toiletries, you will also need to bring along cleaning supplies, cooking utensils, and linens. Essentially, you are bringing a small home with you, so your packing list should reflect that. If you are really having trouble, consider downloading an app or finding a packing list online.

We at Fun Town RV hope you enjoy all of your RV journeys, no matter how much or how little planning you do. For more information, or to view our selection of RVs for sale, visit us in Texas, Indiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois, Arkansas, and Michigan.
