RV Mold Management Tips

Mold and mildew can be a big problem in an RV and can cause allergic reactions or illness if it’s not treated and removed. Moisture is the most common cause of mold and mildew, which is why fixing moisture issues is an important first step. We’ve provided some tips below to help you get started, so read on to learn more!

Cleaning Mold from Interior Surfaces

There are several natural cleaning products effective against mold such as vinegar, tea tree oil, and grapefruit seed extract. The proportions will vary with different cleaning products. Vinegar and water should be about a 50/50 mix, but you’ll usually only need to add a few drops or a teaspoon of essential oil to a gallon of water before adding it to a spray bottle.

Exterior Cleanup

Mold can begin to gather in any area on the RV exterior where rainwater collects and dries slowly, such as underneath the windows. Once it appears on fiberglass or aluminum, it can begin to spread quickly. The good news is that you can clean it with several inexpensive products designed to eradicate mold or your choice of cleaning product.

Spray the cleaner directly onto the moldy area and let it sit for about a minute. All you’ll have to do is wipe it off with a clean rag and rinse the surface with warm water.
