I’ll tell you this right now, regardless of what ever place I claim to be the most beautiful place to visit in Texas, I know 50 people are going to counter with an equally amazing place for the RVer to visit in Texas. You know what? You are right. Everyone is right. There are just too many destinations around Texas that are easily instant favorites the very first time you hookup your RV. In fact beauty can be found from the metropolitan excitement of Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, to the vast expanse of Big Bend. Texas has a little bit of everything: a coastline, hill country, piney woods and forests, farm land and desert. Sometimes, I think I could spend a lifetime in this state, never crossing its borders, and be OK with it.
When I started writing this, I thought it would be a simple topic, basically picking a few of my favorite stops and destinations, but then I quickly realized that I couldn’t narrow it down to just a few. In fact, everyplace I’ve thought of was almost immediately replaced with a different, yet equally wonderful place to visit.
I guess, what I’m trying to say is that YOU have to do a little research and step outside of your RV routine and go somewhere you haven’t been before. Never been to the Piney Woods of East Texas? Visit Tyler, Canton, Henderson and numerous other towns nestled in the woods. Never been to the Gulf? Head down to Port Aransas and Corpus Cristi for some surf fishing and laid back beach livin’.
I’ll tell you right now, I know making a decision to try and visit somewhere new can be stressful because of your lack of familiarity with the area maybe. That’s why, before you load up your travel trailer, fifth wheel, or toy hauler go visit The Texas Parks and Wildlife Office website. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is an extraordinary resource for any question you may have about Texas trips, tours, sites, history, flora and fauna, they have all of the answers.
In 1963 the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department was created from the merger of the Texas Game and Fish Commission and the State Parks Board. Whether you’re a hiker, a hunter or a sunset watcher, chances are you’ve spent some time with us. http://LifesBetterOutside.org
Remember when I said that the entire goal of this entry was to tell you exactly where to go, but the fact is that you need to make up your mind in regards to your Texas travels. Everyone has their own tastes and Texas can satisfy them all. If you have a question, you can always contact the Texas Parks and Wildlife and they can point you in the right direction in regards to specifics on hunting, fishing, swimming, biking, events, festivals and much more.
So, the bottom line is, don’t try to single out unique spots of beauty in Texas, they are everywhere. You can spend a lifetime and never visit half of them. Do you have a spot in Texas that you’d recommend everyone see? We all need something new to do…some new place to go.
