If you are a RVer, tailgater or just a meat fanatic (grilling veggies is another blog) there’s a really good chance you are a Master Griller as well. In this article, we’re going to talk about the ever-intriguing world of “Technical Advancements In The Barbecue: Wood Pellet Grills”.
Let’s see how a wood pellet grill can benefit the people we know the best: The RVer. As many of you already may know, grilling can be a problem in many RV parks where firewood is either scarce, or must be bought from “the guy all the way down the road”. We’ve all seen him. But here’s where the beauty of a pellet grilling system really pays: convenience. Wood pellets are easily transported by and stored. Just throw a couple of 40 lb bags into your rig and you’re ready for a long, relaxing weekend with some great cooking. Plus, grills, such as the ones we carry from Traeger, are the closest alternative to a traditional wood burning grill, cleaner than burning charcoal and probably more desired than a propane burning grill.
Now keep in mind that a pellet burning grill isn’t all about RVing, they also make a fine addition to any outside barbecue station. Traeger makes a grill for almost any application, from portable firepots, to auto-ignite grills with an auger driven pellet feeder.
When a Traeger is turned on, the igniter rod is activated, the auger begins to feed pellets into the firepot, and the draft induction fan feeds air into the firepot. The igniter rod glows red hot for the first four minutes of operation – just long enough to ignite the pellets in the firepot.
Take a look at the video below to see how the grill actually works. It’s remarkably simple.
We are really big fans of Traeger grills. The physics behind creating a flame that burns evenly is at the heart of every grill in the Traeger line. Evenly dispersed heat means there are fewer cold spots which translates into a more predictable cooking surface and sure makes the quest for grilling the perfect steak much easier.
